Read moreWhat is Revision Rhinoplasty?
Revision rhinoplasty (or secondary rhinoplasty) is a procedure that corrects the result of one or more previous nose surgeries. It is more complex than a primary rhinoplasty: the tissues have already been operated on, the cartilage has often been reduced, and internal scarring changes the anatomy of the nose.
Procedure Process
The procedure is most often performed using an open approach, giving the surgeon a full view of the structures. When the nose's own cartilage is insufficient, cartilage grafts may be taken from the nasal septum, the ear or, in some cases, the rib, to rebuild and support the nasal framework. The surgeon corrects both the aesthetic appearance and, if needed, the breathing function.
A Procedure for Experts
Given its complexity, revision rhinoplasty should be entrusted to a surgeon with solid experience in secondary rhinoplasty. A prior consultation, including a review of your photos and surgical history, helps define realistic goals.
When is Revision Rhinoplasty used?
Revision rhinoplasty is intended for patients who have already had a rhinoplasty and are not satisfied with the result: asymmetry, an over-pinched or drooping tip, a residual bump, an over-reduced or collapsed nose, or breathing difficulties that appeared after surgery. It is generally recommended to wait at least 12 months after the first procedure so that the tissues are fully healed.

Frequently asked questions
How does the treatment work?
Anesthesia
Revision rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
Duration
The procedure usually lasts between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the corrections and whether cartilage grafts need to be harvested. Your surgeon will give you a precise estimate during your preoperative consultation.
What happens after treatment?
After revision rhinoplasty, swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes are normal and gradually subside over the first weeks. A splint is usually worn for about a week. Swelling may last longer than after a primary rhinoplasty. It is recommended to rest, avoid strenuous physical activity and impacts, and carefully follow your surgeon's instructions.
How long do results last?
Results appear gradually as the swelling resolves. The final result is usually visible after 12 to 18 months, as previously operated tissues take longer to settle. The goal is a more harmonious nose, balanced with the rest of the face, and improved breathing where it was impaired.
