Lung Lobectomy
Lung Lobectomy: Removing the Tumor and the Affected Lobe
A lobectomy removes the lobe of the lung containing the tumor, along with its lymph nodes. It is the standard surgical treatment for localized lung cancer.
What is Lung Lobectomy?
The right lung has three lobes and the left has two. Removing the affected lobe takes out the tumor with a safety margin while keeping the rest of the lung. The procedure is often performed by thoracoscopy (video-assisted surgery) through small incisions, which reduces pain and speeds recovery. Breathing tests check beforehand that the remaining lung function will be sufficient.
Multidisciplinary Care
Your file is discussed by a team of surgeons and oncologists. The price shown is a starting price: it is confirmed after the file review, depending on the stage and extent of surgery. Follow-up after you return home is coordinated with your usual oncologist.
When is Lung Lobectomy used?
The indication is confirmed after reviewing your complete medical file: chest CT scan, PET scan, biopsy with pathology report and lung function tests. The file is reviewed by the medical team, who confirm that surgery is the right treatment for your situation.
