Breast lumpectomy

When the tumor is localized and of limited size, it is often possible to remove it with a margin of healthy tissue while preserving the shape of the breast, rather than removing the entire gland. The procedure lasts approximately one hour under general anesthesia, with a short hospitalization of one night. Complementary treatment by radiotherapy is generally offered afterwards to reduce the risk of recurrence.

This conservative approach offers the same chances of cure as mastectomy for suitable tumors, with preserved aesthetic results.
